Dottie Rae lives to inspire and encourage all…
no matter what body type, age, or abilities…to reach their full potential. And she expects the same of herself.
Weighing in at 287 pounds 12 years ago, Dottie Rae had weight-loss surgery and lost 160 pounds. But it was a difficult journey that led to five more abdominal surgeries and three years in bed. Malnutrition and body pain took their toll.
Always the optimist, Dottie Rae rallied and returned to her 25-year love of lap swimming. Plagued by spinal pain and misalignment from previous lower back surgery and all seven cervical vertebrae being “bone-on-bone”, she decided to attend a Pilates exercise class. There was no turning back.

Dottie Rae did Pilates mat for four years then decided to certify through Body and Soul Studio, a PhyisicalMind establishment and is now certified in all levels of mat. She then studied under a Stotts Pilates instructor, did a year of weight training under an ACE instructor, and trained in Spinning and Abdominals. Before coming to Colorado, she taught Pilates mat at her local YMCA.
Wanting to complete the Pilates method, Dottie Rae began training on Pilates apparatus, including the Reformer, Ladder/Barrel, Wanda Chair, Cadillac and Wall Unit, through Balanced Body University. She holds three certifications on the Reformer, is fully certified on the Cadillac, The Chair, The Ladder-Barrel and uses all of the many small training/rehabilitation tools such as free weights, kettle bells, rings, large and small balls, rollers, and bands.
Formerly from Alaska, Dottie Rae co-owned her own construction company, worked in hunting, gold mining and bush-construction camps in Alaska, is a paralegal, and can shovel manure and throw hay bales with the best of them. At 58 she loves sharing Pilates with everyone and has a
special passion for bringing physical therapists and Pilates professionals together for the extreme benefit of the client and the community.
Dottie Rae enjoys skiing, skydiving, taking care of horses and ranches, hunting and
anything outdoors, but especially enjoys helping people obtain the
“I can!” factor.
